BESS Field Service / Commissioning Engineer – Czech Republic

Location: Czech Republic – Field-based / On-site

Expected Start: November 2026

Working Schedule: Monday–Friday, with travel across the Czech Republic and occasionally within the EU

CBS Global is looking for a BESS Field Service / Commissioning Engineer to support utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System projects in the Czech Republic.

The role combines commissioning, field service and O&M activities across BESS and PCS systems. The engineer will work directly on project sites, supporting system commissioning, electrical testing, troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, fault handling and technical reporting.

The main project sites are expected to be in the Chomutov / Most area, however candidates may be based anywhere in the Czech Republic provided they are comfortable with regular travel to project sites and, when required, across the Czech Republic / EU.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and support BESS and PCS commissioning and start-up activities.
• Carry out electrical testing, functional checks and system verification during commissioning.
• Perform daily inspections and preventive/corrective maintenance of BESS and PCS systems.
• Troubleshoot faults, alarms and abnormal system conditions.
• Perform fault diagnosis, repair, component replacement and on-site rectification.
• Work with BMS, EMS/SCADA, PCS/inverters and related electrical systems.
• Monitor and record equipment and system operating conditions.
• Read and work with electrical drawings, manuals, commissioning procedures and technical documentation.
• Follow site HSE, work-permit and electrical-safety requirements.
• Prepare commissioning, O&M and service reports and relevant technical documentation.
• Coordinate technical activities with customers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Support urgent technical issues when required.

Minimum Requirements

• Electrical / Electrotechnical / Energy technical background.
• Relevant professional experience in the electrical, power or renewable-energy industry.
• Strong practical commissioning experience with electrical/power systems.
• Experience with BESS, PCS/inverters, energy storage, solar or comparable power-electronics systems.
• Hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting, testing, fault diagnosis and maintenance.
• Valid Czech electrical authorization / professional electrical qualification required for the scope of work.
• Relevant MV/HV qualification/authorization, where required for the assigned activities.
• Ability to work safely with electrical systems and use relevant electrical test equipment.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, manuals and technical documentation.
• Good English communication skills; Czech or Slovak language suitable for local site activities.
• Valid driving licence.
• Willingness to travel regularly to project sites across the Czech Republic and occasionally within the EU.
• Strong HSE and electrical-safety awareness.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous utility-scale BESS/PCS commissioning experience.
• Experience with BMS, EMS/SCADA and MV/HV systems.
• Experience with substations, solar, energy storage or other renewable-energy projects.
• Experience with PCS/inverter commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Relevant work-at-height and/or special-operation qualifications, where applicable.
• Previous field service experience in an international project environment.

Site Entry / Training

Selected engineers will complete, as applicable:

• Required medical examination.
• HSE and site-entry training.
• Project-specific electrical and safety authorizations.
• Required BESS/PCS product and technical training before independent site activities.
• Additional work-at-height or special-operation training/authorization where required.
